However, even if this exact story isn’t true, (I think) it has circulated enough to be helpful, and if you have no other options, trying this is better than dying without the attempt?

“Text-to-911 is the ability to send a text message to reach 911 emergency call takers from your mobile phone or device. However, because text-to-911 is currently only available in certain locations, you should always make a voice call to contact 911 during an emergency whenever possible.”
Might be worth it to see if text-to-911 is available in your area. I have a panic code with my friends that means, “don’t call, don’t text, call the police for me right now” and a code that means, “call me now I need an excuse to get out of an unsafe/uncomfortable situation.”
