The Long Road Home and Dangerous Kitchen Tools

2. Which scene was your favorite to write in [title of fic]?

LRH - Tony and Pepper in chapter one, or maybe the flashback scenes toward the end.

DKT - Probably Tony in the kitchen with his employees and Dum-E. It was so nice to imagine him in such a loving environment.

4. If you could change anything in [title], what would it be?

LRH - I probably would have clarified the nature of the misunderstanding (haha - clarify the misunderstanding), so it was more readily apparent WHY they were not communicating well in this particular situation, other than the fact that they are both really terrible communicators (and very inclined to jump to conclusions).

DKT - OMG, I would make it about 100,000 words longer. There is so much in that world that I didn’t get to share.

7. Who was your favorite character to write in [title]?

LRH - Tony (Always? xD xD xD xD)

DKT - For as little as you saw of her, Tony’s grandma.

9. Which idea came to you first in [title]?

LRH - The idea of looking at a misunderstanding from both sides. Originally, it was only going to be the first two chapters, and then I figured I should give them some kind of happy ending, and then it just went from there.

DKT - The cooking class! I spent all day drooling over molecular gastronomy recipes on YouTube.

Thanks for asking!

My husband got a bag of chocolate chip cookies from the Albertson’s bakery, and let me tell you about them.

Looking through the window into this cookie bag, you think, “Wow, those are some good looking chocolate chip cookies.” They are perfectly golden, they are shaped like cookies, there are obviously chips of chocolate. All indicators that you are in for a treat of classic cookie goodness.

But then you open the bag of these delightful cookies, and find that you’ve been tricked! They are not cookies at all, they are disks of cleverly disguised cookie dough. This is the work of someone who was never ever allowed to eat cookie dough raw as a child, so they put the dough in the oven for 2.57 minutes, and then declared them non-raw, and thusly edible. Who cares if the cookies must be eaten with spoon, and the only way you’re getting that cookie into milk is if you dump it into a bowl and make cookie soup out of it.

They are the cookie equivalent of ordering a steak blue. They are like barely seared ahi tuna if ahi tuna was delicious and made out of cookie dough. These cookies do not even stand up to gravity. I cannot get them out of the bag without them slumping into piles of slightly browned cookie dough. Honestly, I am in awe that the baker was able to get the cookies into the bag while maintaining a cookie shape.

Whichever trickster god slumming it with the mortals you may be, Albertson’s bakery department employee, you have officially made the softest soft cookies I have ever encountered ever.

Do I have any Scottish followers who would be willing to help me pronounce a word? Or if you know anyone who would, point them in my direction?

@thebibliosphere if you have a spare few seconds, maybe?

Whats the word, fam?

I am doing an audio sample recording of Caledon of the Mists by Deborah Turner Harris, which features a kind of Fantasy-Scottland. It is possible that this is not an actual word, but here’s the context:

“Heri hero, my bonnie wee girl, heri hero, my fair one,” caroled Straun, his clear tenor voice quivering with suppressed laughter.

The word (or, rather, phrase I guess) I am having trouble with is “heri hero.” Does that sound familiar?/ How would you say that?
